Maranatha Home Church Covenant

1. Come as you are - but come expecting to grow

No one here needs to pretend or perform. We come as real people with real needs, trusting a real Savior. But we also come with faith that God will speak, convict, encourage, and change lives through His living Word. Expect Him to meet you here!

2. We don't have preaching - instead the Bible itself is our sermon

We come together to explore God’s Word as fellow learners and disciples. The focus isn’t on a preacher, but on allowing Scripture to speak for itself through discussion, reflection, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Together, we seek truth, not performance - transformation, not presentation.

3. Let Scripture speak for itself

Our experiences and opinions can shed light on the discussion, but the Bible remains our ultimate authority. We’ll always bring the conversation back to what God’s Word actually says. When questions arise, we’ll let the text - not tradition or preference - have the final say.

4. Prayer is our power source

We’ll begin and end our gatherings with prayer, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide our study, our hearts, and our fellowship. Prayer is not a formality - it’s how we align ourselves with God’s will and invite His presence to transform us as we learn.

5. Participation is invited and encouraged, never pressured

Everyone learns differently. Some may feel comfortable sharing often, while others may prefer to listen quietly and reflect. Both are valuable. Whether you speak or stay silent, your presence matters - and God can still work deeply in your heart through His Word.

6. Be mindful of time and others

Let’s share thoughtfully and give everyone an opportunity to contribute. Long answers can sometimes keep others from speaking, so let’s be aware of how much space we take up in conversation. The goal is not to say everything, but to say what encourages and builds up.

7. We listen to understand, not to debate

Our purpose isn’t to “win” arguments or prove who knows more, but to learn from God’s Word and from one another. Each of us comes from different experiences and levels of biblical understanding, and that’s a strength - not a problem.

We stay united on the things that really matter

allow freedom where people see things differently,

and show love in everything we do.

8. Grace first, always

We may see things differently at times, but we’ll respond to one another with humility, patience, and love. God has shown us grace beyond measure, and that same grace should shape our tone, our reactions, and our relationships within the group.

9. Confidentiality is sacred

What’s shared in this group stays in this group. We want this to be a safe place for honest questions, personal struggles, and heartfelt prayer needs. Everyone should feel free to speak without fear of judgment or gossip. Trust builds community, and confidentiality protects it.

10. Phones silent, hearts open

Many of us now use Bible apps on our phones. But otherwise, let’s minimize distractions so we can give our full attention to God’s Word and to one another. Our time together is sacred - a chance to step away from the noise of daily life and listen for God’s still, small voice.
